UBU FILMS EXHIBITION 2020
Poster and brochure for UBU films exhibition 2020
‘UBU Films was an Australian independent film-making cooperative which operated from 1965 to around 1970. It produced many of the most important experimental and underground films made in Australia in the Sixties. UBU was also a pioneer of psychedelic light shows in Australia, and during the late Sixties the UBU collective was Australia leading lighting provider for dances, discos and other special events.’
This project requires a poster, brochure and a trailer for UBU Films exhibition at Victoria State Library. I used paper cutting to design the box-shaped font on the poster to fit the independent, niche, avant-garde and avant-garde characteristics of UBU Films.

‘MAGICAL REALISM’ STATUES, PARKS, ARCHITECTURE
IN CHINA
Layout design
This project aims to design, layout and edit a magazine of one's own choice. My subject is magic realist sculpture, theme parks and architecture in China. I chose a contrasting, bizarre typography and layouts for these peculiar buildings.
BOOK COVER DESIGN
Illustration book cover
Inside No.9 is a suspense series of short episodes. In this project, I was allowed to create book covers based on my favorite film and television works, so I created this book cover based on the show. The shadow of the simple Arabic numeral 9 projected on the wall can point to the suspense and tension surrounding the story.

VINYL RECORD DESIGN FOR CHINESE BAND 'WANG WEN'
Packaging design
This project calls for making album cover for music of my choice. I chose the song "Children's Palace" by a post-rock band "Wang Wen" from China as the theme song for my project. The emotion expressed by this song makes me empathize. When I was a child, I attended various specialty classes in the Children's Palace. I hated boring classes, so I often skipped classes and went to play tic-tac-toe in the garden of the Children's Palace, or observe bugs in the grass. So I took tic-tac-toe chess as the main body of the picture, and used chalk to draw a chessboard on the ground, wrote the name of the song on the chessboard, and then photographed it as the cover.
MUSIC ALBUM DESIGN
Package design for CD and Vinyl record
In this project I was asked to design a album cover for a specific phobia that I chose. My concept is 'Ringing Phobia', some people dread the ringing of their phones because they are afraid to talk to strangers. Fear is highlighted through exaggerated comic style, strong color contrast and asymmetrical relationship between two cartoon characters.
